At the Sentric Safety Group, we are committed to celebrating the unique contributions of our employees and taking decisive steps to achieve gender equality.
The 8th of March marks International Women’s Day, which seeks to recognise and celebrate the wide contribution of women in various fields.
In line with this year’s theme of accelerating action for gender equality, we are reaffirming our commitment to addressing the systemic biases that women face in professional spheres and closing the gender gap.
At the Sentric Safety Group, we support and acknowledge the conversation on addressing the disparity between men and women in our field. By encouraging young girls to explore STEM careers from an early age, we can tackle gendered stereotypes that have long been present in the health and safety sector. Our Global Head of Technical Department recently attended Halma’s Digital Innovation event, proudly representing as the only female engineer present. This is important to us to inspire the next generation of female professionals, increase their visibility and ultimately foster a diverse and inclusive workforce.
We take pride in our strong advocacy for gender diversity. In a traditionally male-dominated industry, women represent 43% of our workforce. Our board is a further testament to our commitment; with 44% female representation, and 50% of those women are serving as General Managers.
Our team in China has made remarkable strides toward gender balance by redesigning the shop floor to accommodate a more inclusive workforce. This led to our first female operator in the team, paving the way for further changes.
Our female operations supervisors both on Castell and Kirk shopfloors also exemplify our focus on cultivating diverse leadership in operational roles.
Tackling current imbalances in our industry and adjacent industries is also key to ensure women are aptly supported in their roles. Developing female leaders internally remains a global priority for us, we promoted two female colleagues who are now overseeing our ERP project- one of our most strategic initiatives in recent years. Whether it be targeted training programmes or upskilling opportunities, we are committed to continually taking active steps to close the gender gap in our industry.
We know that achieving gender balance is and will be an ongoing mission, but it is one we are wholly committed to.
Today, as we mark International Women’s Day, we celebrate the unique and diverse journeys of all our female colleagues that have led to their valued contributions to our business. Let’s continue to champion our values to make our workplace a fairer one for all.
